A Great Servant Leader
How my heart goes out to you, to your dear mother Mary, and to the members of your family as well as the JVI/TENT ministry team in this time of bereavement. I cherish so many memories of walking the TENT campus with your father, interacting over meals, and benefiting from his deep biblical wisdom as well as strategic insight. India has lost a great servant leader, a man who integrated workplace and ministry for the glory of Christ and the advance of Christ’s kingdom. But heaven has gained a fervent worshiper.
May the Lord surround you with his comfort and bear you up in his strength. Be assured of our prayers for you during tomorrow’s service, and during these days of transition. “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms” (Deuteronomy 33:27).
In Christ’s love,

CONDOLENCE
We record our deep condolence on the passing away of Dr Vijayam to the Lord’s presence. In his passing away the Indian mission fraternity lost a senior leader and visionary. Coming from a secular professional career he spent all his spare time and energy for building the Lord’s Kingdom either by direct ministry or indirectly through several managing boards of premier organisations. The culmination of his vision was the TENT ministry.
Personally he was an elder brother to many of us in the missions, encouraging and advising us. We are glad that his missional legacy continues in his family.
Please convey our condolence to the bereaved.

I am in Dhaka now and got to know the news quite late.
I want to express my heartfelt condolence to you and your family at this time of loss.
I have fond memories of meeting and talking to Prof. Vijayam at TENT Campus. Many years back he introduced the entire design of Tabernacle to me and a few friends visiting the campus. That was an amazing way of skillfully telling a complicated thing in a simplified way. He was a genius indeed!
During this time of grief, may God be your strength and refuge.
My heart goes out for Aunty. Be assured of my prayers for her as well.

Your Father
I still remember well when we first met you, when you were a college student and borrowed our not-so-good car and you and your dad went out on the town, two guys having fun together. That’s when your dad was coming to the USA a lot, staying with us many times, and our family feeling like he was a grandpa to us.
I think the two holiest times in life are birth and death. In birth, it’s painful and messy, but with a sense of awe that life is coming into the world, a person made in the image of God. In death, it’s painful too, yet with a holy awe of realizing a person is transitioning to glory. 2 Corinthians 5 talks a lot about our body in this world being nothing compared to the glorious one in the next: “meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling.”
I also remember well when your father left PI and started JVI, not as a young man, but putting his trust in Bible stories about people who were given strength in their later years. Certainly all that he hoped to do was accomplished.
Our love to you and your family, Auntie Mary, and your sisters and their families, from Martha and I.

Homecoming of your Father
I am saddened by the death of your Father but know He is gloriously now in the presence of our great God. I know you and each member of the family will miss him terribly. He was such a model of a person transformed by the gospel and his life showed so clearly that he lived what he taught. You are fortunate to have had such an outstanding model of one who walked with Jesus. My love to your Mother and all of the family. May the Lord bring you comfort during these days.

Re: Your Father
I am so, so sorry to hear this news. You father was a great man, and I was so honored to have a tiny place in his life and work. I am praying for all of you right now. Especially for you as you are carrying so much responsibility. I thank God for the support I know you have, and for the peace of our Lord. I am also thinking of, and praying for, your mother. And I am praying for the future of TENT.
I cannot tell you how grateful I am for the tiny part I have been honored to play in your family’s life. If there is anything at all I can do, please let me know.
Give my love to your sisters, and especially to your mom. I know she won’t remember me, but I certainly remember her.

Dear Joseph, Our hearts go out
Our hearts go out to you and your family and share in the deep sorrow of learning of your father’s passing from this life into his eternal home.
Without question, “Uncle” was one of the most exceptional men I’ve had the chance to encounter. His example as a father and husband, his creative solutions to tough problems, and his heart for God were unsurpassed and will remain for me unforgettable models of servant leadership. There are so many memories that come flooding back for me at this time – visits to Carmel, visits of both you and Dr. Viji in our home in Redlands, on and on. What an amazing legacy he leaves behind!
We will be praying for God’s grace and peace to cover over all of you during these next few days of both sorrow and celebration.

Dear Brother Joseph and Sister,
The entire leadership of Seva Bharat, it ’s senior management and the staff send their deepest condolences on the Home Calling of Prof.Bunyan Edmond Vijayam on Wednesday the 30th January 2019.
We are praying for Mrs. Vijayam, and all your families for God’s comfort, strength and peace to be with you all as you pass through a time of great grief and separation. But we have a living hope in Christ that we will see him someday in heaven. For you are a blessed family.
As you celebrate his life with thanksgiving, let me recall some of the memories we have about Professor Vijayam. Because it is a blessing to remember the righteous.
Indeed, in Prof.Vijayam, the entire evangelical world has lost a pure soul, a tall and a legendary Christian leader who lived all his life so well with a burning vision and passion for Christ. He is true, an iconic figure in the Christian world.
Kamala and I have known him from 1970s as students from the Osmania University, Hyderabad. Attended the Bible classes he conducted in his house and his teachings of Christ in churches. Being an intellectual, a researcher, a scholar with profound wisdom, he impacted many a youth for Christ. His God-fearing attitude, handsome smiles; his creative thinking, practical ideas, and skills have inspired, motivated and shaped the youth for a purposeful living to serve Jesus.
We are a witness to his bold and dynamic leadership steering several national Christian Evangelical Missions such as Hindustan Bible Institute, Chennai, Youth for Christ. The Joshua Vision Project that he had driven for research has become a great boon to the missions in India to reach the Unreached and Unengaged People Groups (UPGs and UUPGs) with the Gospel of Jesus and plant innumerable churches among them in recent times.
We are grateful for his untiring efforts in training and equipping hundreds of Bi-Vocational Harvesters from all over the nation through TENT (Training in Evangelism Needs and Technology) a brainchild of him, and the need of the hour for missions.
Lastly, we are grateful to him for his loving and humble guidance and spiritual support extended to Seva Bharat. We cherish his contribution for long.
Professor Bunyan Edward Vijayam has left a great and simulative legacy for us to continue to follow.
God bless you all and make you a great blessing for generations to come.

Prof. Vijayam was a remarkable man of God. His achievements in the work of the gospel were truly outstanding, but it was his walk with the Lord we admire most. His cheerful faith and unwavering love for God will always be with us.
There is no explaining the sweet sorrow of the passing of a loved one. Expecting grief to roll over us like a great wave, it turns out to be the hope of heaven, and again “Our mouths are filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy (Psalm 126:2).

Dear brother Joseph, Vishwa Vani family
Vishwa Vani family is expressing our heartfelt condolences to your Mom dear Mary Vijayam Aunty, You & all the family members. We are shocked at the passing away of uncle Vijayam, who lived the gospel & impacted many lives in this generation for his glory. Vishwa Vani ministry was on his heart & he had a rich relationship with our founder Dr. Emil Jeba Singh, who passed away to be with the Lord a few years back.
We remember Vijayam uncle sent the teams of the trainees from TENT with Rev. John Samuel to our office here in Kushaiguda, Hyderabad to know the successful models & strategies God gave to reach this beautiful nation. I was invited to share the Vishwa Vani vision & mission at Carmel campus also. We want to praise God for the fellowship with uncle Prof B E Vijayam, his life, vision for this wonderful country & beyond.
We surely miss uncle Vijayam but have a blessed hope in Christ our Lord to meet him again when our Savior returns in the clouds.
Please be assured of our prayers & be comforted. 1 Thess 4:13-18, John 14:1-4, John 11:25.

Dear Sister Vidya Sravanthi and
While I was traveling yesterday I received the news of your father’s passing. I have such wonderful memories of Dr. Vijayam from the times I met him at the TENT training facility, on the tour of the Tabernacle he did for our leader’s years ago, and at your home, Sister Vidya. Your father’s life radiated the love of the Lord and his passion for reaching India with the Good News of Jesus in such a wonderful way.
I will always remember how he instructed us as a Missiologist on the demographic and religious composition of India – and the groups least-reached with the Gospel – with his “fat man” diagram. And as a Geologist and Biblical scholar he reminded us after the Tsunami of the reminders of the signs in the last days with “earthquakes in diver’s places.” (KJV)
We as a Global Disciples Board and staff team, we want to express our love, sympathy, and condolences to you and your family in this time of loss. Our prayers are with you as you gather with many friends, extended family members, church members, and associates to pay tribute to this wonderful man of God. And as you mourn the personal loss and praise God for the eternal reward of a life lived well for God’s glory, we will continue to lift you up in our prayers.
Sincerely in Christ,
Galen, Marie, and our Global Disciples Team

I heard from Las that your father passed? I am so sorry to hear of your loss and I’m sure it must be a great sadness for you all. It also seems that your father lived a tremendous life of faith. I look forward to meeting him in glory and hearing many, many stories of God’s grace.
I’m in the hospital right now in possibly the last days of Pearl’s father on earth. He is an incredible man of faith – a true prayer warrior. I trust that the Lord would grant mercy for you and me to grow into such men of faith that our children’s generation would rise up and bless God for His work in our lives.

Dear Friends of Partners International
It is will both a joyous and grieving heart that I share with you that early yesterday morning, our beloved Dr. B.E. Vijayam, the founder and leader of the Joshua Vision India ministry, passed on to be with the Lord in glory.
The son of a rural pastor, Dr. B.E. Vijayam (Dr. Viji) grew up seeing the poverty in India’s villages. Later, as a geology professor, he was mystified when a disastrous earthquake killed 30,000 people living in a seismically stable zone in just 45 seconds. This awakened in him a deep sense of the end times and the urgency of sharing the Good News to all nations. Dr. Viji founded Joshua Vision India to raise up an army of grassroots men and women evangelists to reach the thousands of Indian people groups that have not yet heard the Gospel message. Many of you have been part of giving hundreds of Indian leaders’ access to ministry training and helped JVI fulfill the vision God gave Dr. Viji.
Just 2 months ago, our Partners International staff was in India having breakfast with Dr. Viji and his wife Mary and were reviewing plans for the future. Unbeknownst to them, they were well ahead on planning for a thorough transition of leadership to senior leaders in the ministry.
We mourn with those who mourn and express deep gratitude to the Lord for a life well invested in His service. Please join us in praying for Mary, his son Joseph, their loved ones, and the JVI/TENT staff.
The funeral is scheduled for tomorrow. Our Area Director for South Asia, Rev. Prem James, is scheduled to be present. We have also made arrangements for a floral Indian arrangement to be sent, as is proper during such occasion.
Blessings,

Dr. Vijayam was an inspiration to me first as a mission leader in a local church in CA. The reports from his work to us were always exceptional and we admired the service he provided for God’s mission.
Since that time, in my role with Asian Access, his name came up from time to time as a wonderful servant of Christ. And, I’m a blessed to serve with fine leaders like yourselves.
